From building a talent pipeline for full-time hiring to bringing fresh perspectives, students can add value to your organization from day one. Building and scaling an internship program can often be challenging with limited resources. In this interactive workshop, Mursal Khyabani and Jennifer Syrnyk from UBC will share best practices on how to launch and scale a successful internship/co-op program with diversity and inclusion at the forefront. Join them to learn strategies on how to get leadership buy-in, what funding resources are available and how you can attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates.

Workshop Facilitators:

Mursal Khyabani is a Manager of Business Development at the UBC Sauder School of Business. Prior to joining the BD team, she worked in the Co-op Program for 4 years supporting students' personal and professional development. She is also a certified emotional intelligence coach. In her current role, Mursal works with companies in the tech and telecom industries to engage and recruit student talent.

Jennifer Syrnyk is the Manager of Business Development for the UBC Engineering Co-op Program and has worked at UBC for eight years spanning work in human resources, student advising, and industry engagement. Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree from UBC and a MBA in Finance from Texas A&M University. Currently Jennifer oversees a portfolio of over 4000+ active employer accounts, and is always looking for avenues to engage and enhance industry talent partnerships.
