ASL is seeking a full-time Accounts Payable/Office Clerk to join our accounting team

ASL Environmental Sciences Inc., is a world-class company with more than 40 years' experience in oceanographic, acoustic, remote sensing, and ice research services. We provide clients with scientific consulting services in flow measurement, numerical modeling, wave measurement and analysis, airborne and spaceborne optical and SAR remote sensing, sediment transport, acoustics, and ice studies. Based out of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, ASL provides products and services to national and international clients from industry, government, and academic sectors. ASL owns an extensive pool of metocean equipment, and we also manufacture a line of underwater acoustic measurement instruments, such as the Acoustic Zooplankton & Fish Profiler.

ASL is seeking a full-time Accounts Payable/Office Clerk to join our accounting team. The successful candidate should be detail-oriented and have a passion for numbers.  Our company is employee-owned and operated.   • Processing of A/P invoices: matching packing slip, purchase order & invoices, obtaining approvals, data entry, filing, preparation of payments to vendors, issuing payments (cheque runs) and account reconciliations.
  • Processing employee expenses and monthly credit card reconciliations.
  • Periodic reconciliation of vendor statements to ensure that vendor accounts are current.
  • Office administration; Reception duties, answering phone calls, shipping and receiving packages, ordering supplies, and office organization.
  • Work independently, unsupervised, with the ability to prioritize tasks to achieve an efficient work environment.


  • 2 years of accounting experience.  Training in a recognized accounting program is highly desirable and would be counted as part of the experience.
  • Experience with Simply Accounting (SAGE) software is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Competence with standard office software such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prepare back up documentation to support financial information.

ASL is a federal government contractor. For this reason, the successful candidate is required to complete a background check to get reliability confirmation from Public Works Canada.

Benefits and Remuneration:             

This position offers between $23.50 - $28.00 per hour.  The final salary will be determined based off the level of experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, and education requirement.

This is a full-time opportunity. Days of work are Monday-Friday day shifts only and statutory holidays off, flexible work hours.
