Within Citizens’ Services, the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) leads strategy, policy and standards for telecommunications, information technology, IT security and the management of the IM/IT investment portfolio for the Province. The OCIO is accountable for the operation of a broad government technology infrastructure as a key enabler in support of business transformation for Government, Broader Public Sector organizations and through participation inter-jurisdictionally on initiatives to evolve technology and business.
The OCIO’s Digital Platforms and Data Division drives the implementation and communication of the Digital Framework for the BC Government and leads continuous improvement of the BCDevExchange, DataBC, Data Innovation Program and Data Science Partnerships. DPD’s DevOps and Cloud Services Branch provides platforms, tools and supports that enable government product teams to continuously improve digital service delivery.

The Director, Cloud Procurement develops or oversees the development of cloud procurement strategies, policies and procedures; identifies policy gaps and make recommendations for changes and improvements. This role identifies opportunities for strategic procurement, new/emerging procurement initiatives, evaluates options and makes formal recommendations to executive staff. The Director, Cloud Procurement also monitors changes in case law and advises management and executive on emerging legal precedents; resolves potential legal issues and determines when legal counsel advice is required.

Qualifications for this role include:
Degree in law, business administration, commerce, public administration or equivalent.
Experience in the full procurement life cycle and analyzing complex issues, evaluating options and recommending solutions
Experience advising a diverse client caseload on procurement in a risk-based environment.
Experience negotiating/mediating solutions in a public sector environment.
