Position Summary

Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

The Information Technology department is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and strategic senior leader for the regular full-time position of Director, Information Technology (Director).

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Director supports the Assembly's long-term strategic goals of operational excellence, healthy workforce, and open access. The Director leads staff from the IT Operations, Security, and Web teams, to deliver service excellence and secure, reliable infrastructure at the Legislative Precinct and constituency offices across the Province. To mitigate risks and to innovate services, the Director works with business sponsors from across the organization to plan and execute technology programs and projects. The Director manages the design and development of the enterprise architecture comprising of infrastructure, applications and data in support of business processes and activities. The Director ensures a secure environment compliant with best practices that mitigate risk to support the efficient and effective operation of the Assembly, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and their constituency offices.

Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business with 10+ years of progressive technology experience or equivalent. An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered. Applicants must also have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior leadership capacity directing managers, supervisors, and team leaders.

Other qualifications include significant experience in, and knowledge of, all facets of information technology and information systems strategies and solutions to support and achieve operational and strategic outcomes.
