This role is responsible for the development and support of VMAC’s EV motor technology. Working with partners ensuring that the motors developed are successfully commercialized and compliant with our market and customer requirements.

Leveraging in-depth knowledge in motor design, motor controls, and development of embedded code this role shall build VMAC’s capability to compete in the emerging EV air compressor market for trucks, buses, and related applications.

Position Duties

  • Work with motor partners to develop and optimize motor technology for our customers’ applications.
  • Take on responsibility for design and development as necessary. Provide critical input and hands on support for the testing and evaluation of our electric motor driven compressor
  • Develop, code and implement unit tests for embedded modules
  • Participate and/or lead constructive peer design review meetings for firmware/PCB/schematic/electro-mechanical devices
  • Evaluate potential new technologies and present advantages/disadvantages to each technology
  • Work closely Technical Authority and within our electronics development team
  • Plan, develop and manage the compliance of our electronics and motor technology solutions to necessary industry standards
  • Design new products, modify designs and support new product introduction activities necessary for electro-mechanical devices

Qualifications / Education / Experience

  • Completed BSc in Electrical/Electro-Mechanical Engineering with over 5 years experience
  • Strong firmware embedded technical skills
  • Experience with hardware design/debug
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to use MS Office suite of products
  • Experience in electrical engineering motor design within a product development environment
  • Automobile Tier 1 Industry Experience
  • Design with ISO-26262 awareness, compliance, and support
  • Permanent magnet motor design and test, and controls
  • PCB design Proficiency in CAD modeling
  • Hands-on prototype building and test
  • Design for manufacture
  • Strong analytical/debugging skills typical in embedded applications
  • Experience and knowledge in generator design and technology
  • Experience in battery charging systems design
