Your mission:

To ensure maximum occupant comfort by leading the facilities team in executing day-to-day facility operations and special projects as well as collaborating with Research and Development group to seamlessly integrate new Reliable Controls products within the existing BAS.

In this role you will:

  • Operate and maintain Reliable Controls facilities in LEED Platinum/ISO 14001 environment
  • Develop and manage facility performance reporting requirements
  • Work with local electrical, plumbing, landscaping, janitorial, roofing, painting, HVAC, security, and other contractors to carry out scheduled maintenance and improvements as required
  • Develop and manage annual department budgets and plans
  • Manage and coach facilities team
  • Operate and continuously improve Reliable Controls integrated Building Automation System (BAS) in the headquarters building, including HVAC, lighting, and security components
  • Work with Research and Development staff to implement new BAS components and equipment into our facilities, as part of product testing, and to take advantage of new technology
  • Make continuous improvements to the BAS to improve employee comfort, minimize maintenance costs, and minimize resource consumption
  • Contribute to Reliable Controls product development teams, with recommendations based on the actual hands-on operation of a sophisticated, fully integrated BACnet BAS
  • Assist with design and coordination of facilities construction projects at Reliable Controls facilities.
  • Maintain and manage alarm company services and after-hours support
  • Provide monitoring, measuring, and reporting metrics and statistics related to building performance of Reliable Controls facilities
  • Plan and facilitate LEED facility tours as needed.

This role might be right for you if you have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working in the Building Automation industry
  • A minimum of 5 years of technical BAS experience that includes programming sequences of operation for HVAC equipment and BACnet integration
  • Experience in building management and building automation systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of LEED building requirements and management
  • Valid driver’s license

You’ll be successful in this position if you have:

  • Post-secondary education in mechanical engineering, mechanical technology, Building Controls and Energy Management (BCEM), electrical technology, or related field
  • LEED building certification
  • Current membership (or eligible for membership) in ASTTBC or EGBC
  • Thorough understanding of networking equipment and practices including EIA-485, Ethernet and Wi-Fi
  • Strong planning and organization skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience in employee management and training
  • Hands-on experience with configuring, troubleshooting, installing, and programming Reliable Controls software and hardware products would also be considered an asset.
