The Embedded Software Engineer works within a cross-functional engineering team to develop software for industrial joysticks and electronic controls for the mobile hydraulics market including forestry, agriculture, construction, and other mobile equipment.

                                                                                                                       

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years in writing embedded software for microcontrollers systems
  • Developing test applications on Arduino systems
  • Experience with electronics schematic, and printed circuit board design is an asset for this position
  • Experience delivering mid to high volume designs to a Lean Production environment
  • Minimum of 1 years in a team lead role

Required Competencies:

  • Embedded software architecture and development experience with C programming on Microchip or similar processor
  • Experience with software build, source control, and software release process
  • Strong test and debug skills related to embedded design
  • Design and testing of power supply, microcontroller, and interface circuitry
  • Dedicated, motivated, and energetic cross-functional team member
  • Committed to continuous improvement throughout the business
  • Able to provide clear concise communications to multiple stakeholders


Additional Competencies:

  • Experience with Visual Studio
  • Experience with CANBus (J1939 or CANOpen)

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

The position of Embedded Software Engineer works within the Engineering Team on New Product Development (NPD).  As an intermediate position the candidate is responsible for:

  • Ensuing team commitments to schedule, scope, and quality are met
  • Maintaining best practices in embedded software development
  • Collaboration with other team leads on designs
  • Ensuring sound technical decisions are made by providing review, feedback, and mentoring
  • Level load and planning work for team across multiple consecutive projects
  • Maintaining best practices in embedded software
  • Sprint planning using Agile development methodologies including providing task estimation
