Job Description 

As part of the Planning and Delivery team, the IT User Interface/Experience Analyst(ITUIA) is a collaborative role that works closely with colleagues in IT-Services and university stakeholders in support of the delivery of value driven technology solutions.

This role participates in all phases of the software development lifecycle process including solutions planning, development/testing and delivery into operations. In addition to the appropriate technical skills, communication and team collaboration skills are mandatory as the ITUIA will work closely with stakeholders and colleagues.

The ITUIA design sand delivers artifacts that enhance existing and net new user experiences through the use of wireframes, storyboarding and process flows that align with gathered or provided user requirements. The ITUIA is also be responsible for the design and creation of interface elements, mockups, graphic design and the implementation of deliverables.

This role prepares and presents rough drafts to internal teams for review and feedback while working closely with the IT Quality Assurance role to ensure the highest standards of product quality are met.

The ITUIA will also be responsible for troubleshooting UI/UX problems and conducting layout adjustments while adhering and contributing to the Royal Roads style guide standards.

Job Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science or related field - a combination of experience and education will be considered
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working within hosted environments
  • Familiarity with front end frameworks
  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience with design practices and tools in an enterprise level environment
  • An in-depth understanding of information systems and familiarity with the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile development practices
  • Advanced problem solving and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
  • Familiarity with WCAG and WAI
  • Passion for information architecture, design and user centered design
  • Ability to produce wireframes, mockups and participate in rapid prototyping
  • Deep understanding of color, contrast, typography, textures, graphic design, and web application design
  • Other duties as required
