ASL Environmental Sciences, based in Victoria, B.C., Canada has more than 40 years of experience in remote sensing, acoustics, oceanography, ice research and operational services. We provide scientific consulting and instruments to government, industry, and academic sectors in Canada and internationally.

Our remote sensing team offers expertise on airborne and spaceborne remote sensing for terrestrial and aquatic environments, combining decades of experience in applications and domain knowledge with the state-of-the-art technologies, data, and analytical capabilities.

  • Support development and testing of deep learning models for remote sensing image processing and analytics.
  • Work with geospatial tools and data including multispectral and SAR imagery.
  • Maintain knowledge of deep learning tools/methods for remote sensing image analysis.
  • Participate in R&D and consulting projects for a variety of use cases in terrestrial and aquatic environments.
  • Write technical documentation, contribute to project reports and presentations.


  • BSc in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or Geomatics.
  • Experience with python and standard libraries (pandas, numpy, scipy, etc.)
  • Experience using deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) for computer vision problems (e.g., semantic segmentation, object detection, image classification, etc.)  
  • Knowledge of geomatics tools and remote sensing data.
  • Bonus: Experience working with cloud-based platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and adapt to changing priorities
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
