Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Manager, IT Operations is responsible for the implementation, administration and management of IT Infrastructure and Operations, ensuring the services they deliver meet the department's standards of quality, effectiveness, responsiveness, and stability.  The Manager leads the Infrastructure and Operations teams through an inspiring, collaborative and hands-on approach that is oriented towards the I.T. department's goals of excellence in customer service, continuous improvement, and positive educational and business outcomes through the effective use of technology.

The duties include managing, coaching, and supporting the work of IT professionals in our infrastructure, service desk and field services teams; planning and executing projects; achieving optimal operational availability, reliability, performance, and maturity of IT services; and collaborating with others to create and implement innovative solutions.

Candidates must have expert, hands-on knowledge of enterprise IT systems, both on-prem and cloud, as well as an extremely high level of competency in managing technology teams and in IT service and project management methodologies.  Formal training, certification, and leadership experience in ITSM frameworks, Project Management, and Security and IT Infrastructure Systems are expected, as are exceptional communication and documentation skills, with a confident ability to lead presentations to staff and stakeholders. 


Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as information technology, computer science, or management information systems with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in IT operations and infrastructure in enterprise environments, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum 5 years of recent experience, managing or supervising a team of IT professionals in a complex enterprise environment, ideally in a unionized workplace.
