POSITION SUMMARY

The PLC Programmer, Engineer (or Technologist):

  1. work in the R&D Team developing new products
  2. providing technical support to our customers, production, sales and service
  3. providing technical and quality control support to our partner companies
  4. provides support, as required, to all areas of the R&D Team

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and/or redesign products utilizing best practices
  • Review designs for manufacturability following a structured design review process
  • Participate in the Continuous Improvement Activities
  • Participate in the Lean Manufacturing Initiatives
  • Carry out assigned projects relating to R&D and production
  • Backfill for the other team members, as required

SKILLS

  • Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of AutoCAD and electrical panel design
  • Experience programming, designing and troubleshooting PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley)
  • Prior experience programming, layout design and troubleshooting experience for HMI display units
  • Solid knowledge and experience in industrial control system engineering
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Efficiently plan time to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks
  • Demonstrated detail oriented and organized work style
  • Ability to systematically analyze problems and procedures
  • Proven project management skills

QUALIFICATIONS, Education and/or Experience required:

  • BSc. in Electrical Engineering with experience in a related industry (or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology with equivalent experience)
  • Registered with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (or ASTTBC) or eligibility for registration
  • Three to five years’ experience in design and programming of industrial electrical systems, preferably in forestry
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and oral) with the willingness and ability to travel internationally
