The University of Victoria Particle Physics Group invites applications for a Scientific Computing Developer to work on novel computing challenges for the next generation of High Energy Physics experiments.

Our group operates a distributed cloud computing system that integrates clouds located around the world into a single computing infrastructure. The resources are used by international High Energy Physics experiments in Europe and Japan. We are also involved in R&D projects with data federations, CPU benchmarks and developing network packet marking software.

The candidate should have a BSc or equivalent degree in physical science with a strong background in software development and the use of analysis tools. Expertise with Linux operating systems, and scripting languages such as Python are required. Server configuration and administration experience would be an asset.

We are seeking a candidate with the above expertise and a keen interest in learning new techniques.

The position will be based at the University of Victoria and be for a two-year period. The starting date will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
