BC Assessment is currently looking for a permanent Senior Security Analyst to join the Information Technology Services (ITS) division.

This critical role will lead and maintain the BCA information security framework to enable employees, business partners and customers access to appropriate information, applications and technology. It provides security expertise for Information Communications Technology (ICT) services at each stage of the systems life-cycle and designs and tests procedures to protect systems and services.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, maintain and evaluate corporate security policies, processes, and procedures to support BCA’s security framework.

  • Enforce security policies, procedures and associated plans for system security administration and user system access based on industry-standard and best practices.

  • Keep current with emerging security alerts and issues. Conducts research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards to security enhancement/development efforts.

  • Review new legislation/regulations and identifies impacts to information systems security.

  • Ensure systems comply with audit/review requirements, quality plans, and security  standards.

  • Lead the day-to-day systems security services delivery.

  • Prepare project plans for the implementation, upgrade and operation of security services.

  • Respond to job assignments such as work orders, engineering changes and trouble calls.

  • Investigate threats, proposes solutions, and implements recommendations for security counter-measures against error, disaster and misuse.

  • Grant, modify, and revoke access to electronic information and applications based on designed security models for applications and data and a defined approval process.

  • Monitor and report on security issues and incidents. Coordinates investigation and resolution of security problems and informs senior managers.

  • Conduct confidential security investigations or reviews of internal/external systems access and documents findings.

  • Review and check application, server and network logs and regularly report issues.

  • Work with provincial government agencies to identify, track and report on global security warnings, audits, and incidents.

  • Coordinate physical security of IT infrastructure assets and reports on inventory.

  • Participate in the analysis, testing and scheduling of security patches for client and server operating systems, applications, and active network devices.

  • Identifying, developing and implementing plans, measures, for continuous improvement.

  • Conduct security audits to ensure security policies and, procedures are adhered to makes recommendations for improvement.

  • Assess the organization’s security measures, such as firewalls, anti-virus software and passwords, to identify any weak points that might make information systems vulnerable to attack.
     

Location: Victoria, BC – Uptown *
Compensation: $95,103.21 - $ 111,798.33
Competition Close Date: Sunday, February 26th @ 11:59PM

This position is excluded from the bargaining unit.  BC Assessment intends to establish an eligibility list for this competition.


Qualifications 
 

Education

  • Successful completion of a related University Degree.

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional.


Experience

  • Five-years of experience in security analysis and planning; and investigating and resolving security problems, issues and technical requirements.

  • Five-years experience working in a client-focused environment.

  • Experience developing security plans, policies and procedures within a documented framework.


Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
