Union: MOVEUP 

Monthly Salary Range: MoveUp Group 12 with TMA, MIN $8,281.00 - MAX $9,935.00 is available through annual general wage/step increases.

Recruitment Range: MIN $8,281.00 – STEP 3 $9,196


Placement in the salary range is determined by an assessment of knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the candidate to meet the key requirements of the job. In exceptional cases, candidates may be hired above the recruitment range, provided agreement is reached with the Union.

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Director, IT Technology Business Services, the Solutions Architect role is to drive and support the evolution of the use of IT solutions within the organization while satisfying the needs of the various projects, strategic business growth, and development of strategic insights that can help make effective decisions. This role will work closely with IT project managers, developers, and business analysts to design solutions that efficiently meet business needs and are aligned with IT strategies and data management practices.

The position responsibilities include overseeing the entire lifecycle of solution delivery; from conceptualizing through design and implementation. This includes critical aspects like system architecture, infrastructure, data management, and security. The Solutions Architect must ensure that solutions are robust, scalable, and adaptable, positioning the organization well for future demands and projects. This role will also facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards, as well as the design of standard software configurations.

By driving new projects and providing architectural oversight, you will ensure that our technology solutions are not only effective but also sustainable, supporting long-term strategic objectives and operational needs.

What you'll bring to the table...

We value lifelong learners and have found the following combination of education & experience allows people to be successful in this role, though an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Certifications in TOGAF, Open CA, or Zachman are considered an asset.
  • Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Solution Architect, Azure Solutions Architect), ITIL, or other architecture certifications are considered an asset.
  • Experience managing full lifecycle solution implementations.
  • Experience in at least two IT solution development disciplines, including technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development as well as architecture experience and delivery of technology products and solutions.
  • Experience in implementation of enterprise-scale cloud or software projects in corporate environments using agile, hybrid, and waterfall methodologies.
