Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. As such, EMBC’s mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction. EMBC works directly with local governments, First Nations, provincial ministries and agencies, federal departments, other jurisdictions, industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. 

As a Technical Support Analyst, you will be joining a dynamic team providing expertise in the configuration, installation and maintenance of shared systems hardware and software, or line of business applications and servers. You will also be involved in the implementation of non-standard solutions and workarounds to provide short term problem resolutions. You will also assist with supporting, diagnosing, and resolving problems while collaborating with senior staff as required on priorities or problem resolution.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Post-secondary certificate (or higher) or program completion PLUS one year related* experience; OR some post-secondary course work PLUS two years’ related* experience; OR Secondary School graduation or equivalent (GED); PLUS, three years’ related* experience.

Related* experience must include the following: 

  • Experience in assessing customer requirements.
  • Experience in working with clients in providing troubleshooting and assistance, as well as collecting business or technical requirements.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following: 

  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining shared systems software/hardware or line of business applications and/or servers.
  • Experience using iStore.
  • Experience using OCIO MySc and JAG ServiceNow.
  • Experience providing customer support in an information technology environment or helping clients to use and understand computer hardware and software.
  • Experience with emergency management best practices including work experience in a command and control environment adhering to the Incident Command System (ICS) or similar structure.
