Within the Workplace Strategies and Planning department, the Visual Communications Designer will be part of a unique team of creative design professionals focused on bringing new and innovative design ideas to government work environments. The Visual Communication Designer is responsible for creating visual strategies, tools and materials that will communicate Workplace Strategies and Planning’s brand, values and strategic concepts, including Leading Workplace Strategies, departmental goals, project metrics and reporting to diverse range of audiences.

Leading Workplace Strategies is a coordinated corporate approach to support and promote mobile and flexible work styles by integrating technology, culture, and space in innovative ways. Implementing Leading Workplace Strategies supports client program and service delivery, improves the workplace, provides choice and flexibility, reduces government’s overall space footprint, and supports the shift towards mobility across the BC Public Sector.  Qualifications for this role include:

  • A design and/or technical degree is required and may include one or more of the following areas of study: graphic design, architecture, interior design, computer science, software engineering/development, and visual communications. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered (e.g. a design and/or technical diploma supplemented by two years of work experience in computer applications over and above any additional experience requirement).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • Minimum of 1 year of demonstrated experience interpreting and displaying concepts through visual representations.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign applications.
