The University of Victoria has again placed among the world's best universities for research impact according to the latest QS World University Rankings.
UVic ranks fourth in Canada and 172nd globally for citations per faculty, which measures how often a university's research is cited by scholars globally, relative to its size. UVic’s score was more than three times the global median, a strong indicator of the influence and reach of its research community.
"Global rankings often use measures that reward larger institutions, but these results show how UVic continues to be a leader when it comes to the impact of our research. Our faculty are among the most highly cited in Canada." – Alexandra D’Arcy, associate vice president research.
Overall, UVic placed 370th in the world and 15th in Canada, its domestic position unchanged from last year. The university also ranked among the world's top 200 for sustainability.
UVic's continued strength in research impact is also reflected in a strong track record with international partnerships, with faculty consistently publishing a higher proportion of research involving international collaborations than any other university in Canada.
