2018 Fundica Roadshow:
Pitch for up to $500,000

Montreal, QC - the Fundica Roadshow announced a partnership with Panache Ventures, Canada's most active seed stage venture capital fund, which will consider investing a total of $500,000 in Canada’s most promising startups. The Roadshow, a cross-Canada initiative, is aiming to advance financial literacy by educating, inspiring and funding entrepreneurs. Last year, the Fundica Roadshow brought together over 150 startups, 2000 attendees, 132 funders, and 125 partners, making it the largest pitch competition across Canada.

The 2018 Fundica Roadshow will initially stop in three Canadian cities (Montreal on May 1stVancouver on May 31st and Toronto on June 28th). In each city, up to 20 select entrepreneurs will pitch to a panel of funders. The top pitchers in each city will win choice prizes including three months rent at WeWork, as well as an invitation to the Finale in Montreal on July 12th, where they will also receive investment consideration from Panache Ventures, for up to a total amount of $500,000. Each stop will feature inspiring speakers, educational workshops, networking opportunities with funders and entrepreneurs, and some fun surprises.

“The Fundica Roadshow is a great opportunity for us,” says Mike Cegelski, Managing Partner, Panache Ventures. “It provides a unique one-stop opportunity to meet the most ambitious start-ups in the country.”

“The Fundica Roadshow brings entrepreneurs, funders and investors together in cities across Canada,” says Mike Lee, Eng., MBA, CFA, President, Fundica. “We are very proud of the results from past years where about a third of entrepreneurs were offered funding and a similar percentage of funders made investments, in the three months following the last stop. We hope to beat these numbers in 2018. I would like to thank our partners across Canada for their collaboration and support.”

“QuickBooks is pleased to be working with the Fundica Roadshow team again this year,” says Jeff Cates, President of Intuit Canada. “The Fundica Roadshow has emerged as a prestigious annual initiative as it successfully accomplishes its objectives of educating, inspiring and funding entrepreneurs across the country.”

“The Fundica Roadshow successfully connects entrepreneurs and funders across Canada and effectively showcases the tools available to help entrepreneurs,” adds Peter Wilenius, Vice President, Business Development, CANARIE. “In a short time-frame, the Fundica Roadshow has established an important national initiative that allows CANARIE to make critical connections with entrepreneurs and partners.”

For the past six years, the Fundica Roadshow has supported Canadian startups that secured over $80 million in follow-up investment. Former roadshow participants, VRvana, Edusight, and Skip the Dishes, were respectively acquired by Apple, Nelson, and JustEat.
