B.C. earmarks $1.5M for seven Vancouver Island tech companies
VIATEC Members MarineLabs and VoxCell among the list of impressive recipients.
The B.C. government has earmarked more than $1.5 million to support tech development among seven Vancouver Island companies.
The funding is coming from Innovate BC’s “Integrated Marketplace Platform” fund, which is designed to support small and medium-sized businesses with showcasing their technology innovations and preparing them for the commercial market.
One of the largest slices of funding is going to MarineLabs in Victoria, which received $310,000 to showcase its AI-powered fog-detection and forecasting system.
The full list of recipients can be found here, while all Vancouver Island recipients can be found below. Each company got a maximum of $500,000 in funding.
- Mostar Labs in Victoria: $435,000
- PrimeHealth (formerly ElderPrime Solutions) in Courtenay: $350,000
- MarineLabs in Victoria: $310,000 (VIATEC Member!)
- Canadian Electric Vehicles in Parksville: $125,000.
- Reach Technologies in Victoria: $115,000
- VoxCell BioInnovation in Victoria: $110,000 (VIATEC Member!)
- iTotem Technology Solutions in Victoria: $90,000
