The Government of Canada has opened applications for the AI Compute Access Fund, providing small and medium-sized businesses with financial support to access critical computing power for scaling and commercializing innovative artificial intelligence (AI) projects.

Delivered through Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), the fund is part of the broader Canadian Sovereign AI Compute Strategy. It aims to strengthen Canada’s position in the global AI landscape by helping homegrown companies access high-performance cloud computing resources—often a barrier to commercial success.

Eligible businesses can apply for funding ranging from $100,000 up to $5 million to offset the cost of cloud-based AI compute services. The program will cover:

• Two-thirds of costs for Canadian cloud-based AI compute services
• Half of costs for non-Canadian cloud-based AI compute services

This is a major opportunity for innovative tech companies, especially those in British Columbia, to accelerate AI development and commercialization.
