Open Ocean Robotics Takes Home the Autonomous Systems Award at BlueTIDE 2024
Victoria’s tech trailblazers showcase cutting-edge maritime innovations in Newport, Rhode Island.
Victoria’s own Open Ocean Robotics has done it again! The innovative team snagged the Autonomous Systems Award at BlueTIDE 2024, hosted by 401 Tech Bridge and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport. This award recognizes their cutting-edge work in autonomous maritime technology, and let’s just say, they made waves—literally and figuratively.
The action started as Open Ocean Robotics’ USV DataXplorer™ rolled into Newport, Rhode Island, ready to show off its tech chops. During a live demo, DataXplorer™ spent two hours running in a precise grid pattern, scanning above and below the water using their advanced AI-based technologies, UnderwaterListener™ and EnhancedHorizon™. It wasn’t just a fancy show; this autonomous vessel transmitted real-time data to detect objects of interest on the fly, giving the audience at Sail Newport a front-row seat to the future of ocean exploration.
Key members of the team, including Julie Angus, Fritz Stahr, and Ari Robinson, were on hand to share insights from the demo and deliver talks that highlighted how Open Ocean Robotics is pushing the limits of what’s possible in autonomous maritime operations.
“This award is a huge testament to the hard work and innovation of our team,” said Julie Angus, CEO of Open Ocean Robotics. “We’re thrilled to be recognized at BlueTIDE 2024 and can’t wait to keep pushing the boundaries in the autonomous systems space.”
Open Ocean Robotics is known for its zero-emission, data-collecting boats that use AI and advanced sensors to offer a safer, more efficient way of exploring and protecting our oceans. From environmental monitoring to enhancing maritime safety, this company is setting new standards—and winning awards while they’re at it.
Congratulations to Open Ocean Robotics on this incredible achievement!
