Root is designed to solve one of the messiest everyday problems: food waste in the kitchen. Root offers a smarter alternative: it installs under the sink, separates solids from liquids at the push of a button, and stores scraps in a sealed bin with filtration that eliminates odors. Liquids flow safely down the drain, making Root septic-safe by design.

Founder and CEO Victor Nicolov created Sepura with the mission to make sustainability easy and affordable: “Kitchens should be a joy to cook in, not a juggling act with messy bins or loud grinders. Root launched on Kickstarter on October 7, 2025 and reached its funding goal in under four minutes. Early backers include families, households on septic fields, home cooks, and sustainability-minded people eager for a better way to manage food waste.

“The positive responses and comments from our backers have been overwhelming! It really feels like people are getting just as excited about Root as we are. Hitting our goal in minutes was a great confirmation of that,” said Nicolov.
