VICTORIA, BC, CANADA – February 24, 2025. STR-SpeechTech Ltd. (STR) and IE Luftfahrt and Service GmbH (INTERSOFT) are pleased to announce the delivery, installation, and commissioning of a Global Reporting Format (GRF) compliant fully redundant StarCaster D-ATIS system at Friedrichshafen Airport (EDNY) in Germany.

The project marks the modernization of the D-ATIS (Automatic Terminal Information Service) infrastructure at Friedrichshafen Airport (EDNY). The scope of services provided included the supply, delivery, installation, acceptance testing, and commissioning of the StarCaster D-ATIS system, along with onsite training to ensure successful implementation. Furthermore, the system delivery to EDNY featured the StarCaster Maintenance Program, ensuring long-term operational support and industry compliance.

The system consists of a redundant StarCaster D-ATIS hardware and software configuration for combined arrival and departure Voice ATIS over VHF transmitters. The system also includes a datalink interface for communication of the D-ATIS message over the Datalink Service Provider (DSP) network. Air traffic controllers can create, edit and approve ATIS messages consisting of the current weather, runway condition report and airport operational information for broadcast to VHF transmitters in ED-137B compliant VoIP.  StarCaster is interfaced with EDNY’s AWOS system via TCP/IP to continuously receive the latest weather observations, and users can access StarCaster’s feature-rich Human Machine Interface (HMI) through a standard web browser over a secure internet connection.
