The University of Victoria (UVic) and the Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Life Sciences (CASTL) have launched a new Core Skills for Biomanufacturing (CSB) micro-credential to support training and workforce development in Canada's growing life sciences sector.

The 39-hour program combines six weeks of online instruction with a one-day laboratory intensive at CASTL's training facility in Richmond, BC. The curriculum covers biopharmaceutical manufacturing, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Quality Control (QC), regulatory compliance, and biomanufacturing operations.

The initiative reflects growing demand for biomanufacturing and quality-focused skills across the sector. Participants who complete the program will receive a UVic micro-credential endorsed by CASTL, Canada's national biomanufacturing training partner.
