UVic receives $15.2M to advance climate, health and ocean discovery
“These investments will augment UVic’s world class research in clean energy, particle physics, climate science and ocean observation,” says Lisa Kalynchuk, UVic vice-president of research and innovation.
A number of research units at University of Victoria (UVic) have received $15.2 million from Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to acquire state-of-the-art equipment and instruments that advance research in medical imaging, climate change and ocean observing. The funding was announced on March 13, by parliamentary secretary to the minister of industry, Karim Bardeesy. Delivered through CFI’s Innovation Fund, the investment will be of use for high impact research infrastructure. It also expects to strengthen Canada’s ability to innovate, provide long-term benefits for Canadians and help build economic resilience.
