Victoria Hand Project is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Peirone as Chief Executive Officer. Former CEO and founder of VHP, Dr. Nick Dechev, will be transitioning to the role of Chief Technical Officer.

Michael is a graduate of the Biomedical Engineering program at the University of Victoria, and has been a core member of VHP since before our founding as a nonprofit in 2015. Michael first got involved as a co-op student, and assisted with the initial research and design of the original Victoria Hand prosthetic device. He has filled many roles at VHP since, his latest being Chief Operating Officer, and has championed nearly all major growth endeavors of the company. His expertise and passion for making a difference has driven the success of the project over the years, and we are thrilled to announce his new position.

Our former CEO and founder of VHP, Dr. Nick Dechev, will be transitioning to the role of Chief Technical Officer. Dr. Dechev is an Associate Professor at the University of Victoria and founder of another Canadian healthcare company. With his commitments to these organizations, Dr. Dechev recommended Michael take over as CEO during this exciting time of growth for VHP. As CTO, Dr. Dechev will remain closely involved with the engineering and design of the prosthetic systems, as well as project direction/vision, establishment of international partnerships, organization and project management.

Please join us in congratulating Michael and Dr. Dechev on their new roles!
