SUMMARY:Leaders Who Hire: A Working Session on AI\, Young Talent\, and What's Ours to Do (June CEO Peer Roundtable)
DESCRIPTION:Note: This session begins at 12:00noon on June 5th!Last session was a great one! Each of us came at it from a different angle\, with our own issues and perspectives. Where the room converged was on a shared pain point: AI is absorbing many entry-level jobs that young people have historically used to get a foothold in our companies\, and the institutions we'd normally count on to respond\, like universities and governments\, do not appear to be keeping up. The question that came up at the end of the conversation is the one worth taking seriously: what can we as a group of leaders actually do to make a meaningful impact on this\, rather than waiting for universities and governments to catch up? We hire. We mentor. We have real voices in our communities. If "wait and see" isn't a strategy any of us would accept inside our own companies\, it probably shouldn't be the strategy here either. So this session is meant to be a working one. Two parts. First\, let's pool what we already know about programs\, partnerships\, existing resources\, and supports that exist today and could be part of a plan. Better to reinforce something good that already exists than reinvent the wheel. Second\, let's name the gaps that aren't being filled\, and figure out where this group\, individually or together\, could actually do something about it.\nFor more information on joining VIATEC Peer Roundtables\, please contact Rob Bennett by e-mail at rbennett@viatec.ca describing how you meet the eligibility criteria for this roundtable.
