For businesspeople and anyone interested in the state of the economy, announcements by the Bank of Canada are highly anticipated events. 

It’s been more than five years since Vancouver Island last hosted the Bank of Canada and The Chamber is proud to announce Victoria will serve as host for the Bank of Canada’s mid-year Economic Progress Report on June 8th.

The Economic Progress Report speech, delivered by Deputy Governor Paul Beaudry will be coming the day after the Bank of Canada makes its next interest rate announcement. Join The Chamber for this important event for the opportunity to hear first-hand about recent developments in the Canadian economy and implications for monetary policy and your business. 

The Bank of Canada is the nation's central bank. Their main role is “to promote the economic and financial welfare of Canada,” as defined in the Bank of Canada Act. Their main areas of responsibility are: Monetary policy, Financial system, Currency, Funds management, and Retail payments supervision.

The Deputy Governor's speech will be followed by a moderated Q&A where questions will be taken from the floor.
