Who's it aimed at? Well, this started as a service aimed at biomedical engineering students who mentioned a desire for more foundational basics in intellectual property. Think of it as a CPR first aid course, where not only is it useful to take one as you start your working career, but even for those experienced it can be useful to refresh.

This 2-hour seminar (with plenty of Q&A) is accordingly aimed at people who have some training or experience in technology development, but have not necessarily taken any such courses previously in intellectual property, IP forms, IP licensing, contract law, or IP law. We will start from the very basics of what's IP, what's a copyright, what the heck is a patent really, etc, but also go a fair bit beyond basics.

Samuel Mercer from VILS is delivering the main content, and Dr. Lindsay Frehlick, also a VILS Board Director, assisting with colour commentary and assisting with Q&A and facilitation (e.g. calling out Sam's mistakes!). The session itself will run to 4 PM and then we invite folks to stay on for networking and drinks.
