Networking for Success

Networking for Success

Sunday, July 25, 2021 (1:00 PM - 4:30 PM) (PDT)

Description

Have your been procrastinating about building your in-person and online network? You know it’s important for your career and your personal life and yet somehow you never seem to be able to make it a priority?

This workshop is PERFECT for you if you want to sharpen your networking skills, build your confidence in your ability to network and design a strategy and plan for your networking for the coming year. In addition to the half day workshop delivered live over Zoom, you’ll also receive a 1-on-1 networking strategy call with me, your workshop leader, to refine your introduction, clarify your goals and build an action plan. There will be group activities and individual work. How actively you participate in the group activities is up to you – that means you don’t have to share a lot of personal stuff with others unless you choose to.

If you’re between jobs, are seeking out new opportunities, are starting a new business, are a student who will be looking for work or a co-op placement in a year or two, or simply want to expand your circle and make some new friends, networking is a critical skill.

Sadly, many people have a strong aversion to the concept of networking and I must confess that in the past, I was one of them! I used to think it was about impressing other people, or simply making small talk and I really didn’t see the value in it. Now I’m a passionate advocate for the value of networking and I really enjoy the experience of connecting with new people. I enjoy helping people re-frame their negative beliefs about networking and find the joy and value in the experience of networking. If I was able to get past my negative perceptions of networking and learn to love it, I can help you do that too.

This half-day workshop will give you the tools and confidence to become a more effective networker, even if you’ve never done it before.

Here’s what we’ll cover in the workshop – it’s FULL of valuable information & insights:

• Identifying the barriers to networking

Reframing negative beliefs about networking

Embracing the many benefits of networking

• The many different places you can go to network

Setting goals for your networking

My Ultimate Action Plan to get value from your networking

• How to answer the question “So what do you do?”

• Great conversation starters

• Embracing the new world of virtual networking

• Making new connections on LinkedIn

• Effective follow up strategies
