Canadian History Through an Indigenous Lens Event

Canadian History Through an Indigenous Lens Event

Thursday, September 30, 2021 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

Recently, the Government of Canada passed legislation to make September 30th a federal statutory holiday called National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day is intended to provide opportunity to Canadians to recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools and may present itself as a day of learning, reflection and participation in a community event. The date coincides with Orange Shirt Day which honours the memory of Indigenous children that attended residential schools and never made it home. A key part of reconciliation is education and building your knowledge. We are thrilled to share that on September 30th from 10:00am - 12:00pm, the First Nations Technology Council, Chastity Davis-Alphonse and Shelley Joseph will be hosting an informative online industry-focused learning event - Canadian History Through an Indigenous Lens. Klei Entertainment has generously sponsored tech sector participation and made 300 seats available. 30% of the proceeds will be donated to the Orange Shirt Society! A link to attend will be provided after registration. We ask for registration to be a maximum of 10 people per organization to support learning in as many tech companies as possible. Please be sure to register with first name, last name, email address and name of company. Don't miss this opportunity to take part!
