COAST Talks: Weathering change - how ocean tech supports climate security
Wednesday, March 15, 2023 (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (PDT)
Description
Flooding, erosion, wildfires, hurricanes and king tides. These are just some of the extreme climate changes whose effects could - and will continue to - create both opportunity for alliance and potential for conflict between nations and organizations as they cope with the impact.
COAST Talks brings together top security experts for a fascinating and necessary discussion about the security challenges we face and the ocean-based technology that could help solve them.
The panel is hosted by Kate Moran, CEO of Ocean Networks Canada, and moderated by Emilie de Rosenroll, CEO of COAST, who will host a Q&A during the session.
Featured guests Sherri Goodman, Global Fellow at the Wilson Center’s Environmental Change and Security Program and Polar Institute and Secretary General of the International Military Council on Climate & Security and Vice-Admiral (VAdm) Angus Topshee, 38th Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) will share their insights and perspectives on managing climate strategies in the context of great-power cooperation, climate-migration, Arctic security, military readiness, and technology adaptation.
