Fostering Diversity and Inclusion In and Through Sport - Part 2
Wednesday, June 2, 2021 (12:00 PM - 1:30 PM) (PDT)
Description
In our next episode in the Sport, Leadership and Social Change series, we'll continue to explore how to support greater diversity and inclusion in and through sport with a focus on building belonging in sport.
Fundamental to a more inclusive sport environment and society as a whole is our ability to embrace and appreciate our human and cultural diversity, and to create cultures in sport where participants can show up as they are and be included because of their differences. The most successful teams, in both sporting and corporate arenas, are not only diverse, but intentionally so. Diverse teams can only be successful if they are also able to find shared purpose and principles, not through blind followership, assimilation, and compliance, but through the deep work of honouring different perspectives while finding common ground. Leveraging the true power of diversity hinges on both accepting and leveraging our differences. Our next panel will discuss the challenges and opportunities of diversity in sport, and the ways sport can offer a vehicle to learn how we can belong, not through sameness, but through our differences.
