The Archipelago Succession Story: November CEO Roundtable

The Archipelago Succession Story: November CEO Roundtable

Friday, November 4, 2022 (7:30 AM - 9:00 AM) (PDT)

Description

Succession is one of the mechanisms that founders can use to realize the value that has been built over the years in their company. While similar to acquisition in that it involves the sale of shares, the person or group acquiring the shares is usually already close to the company, such as a family member or the existing management team.

Archipelago Marine Research (https://www.archipelago.ca/) is a company that has achieved this. We'll have Shawn Stebbins (from the original founders) and Gord Snell (from the management team and now President) share how three Victoria business owners transferred ownership of their business of 40 years to three senior managers who took over leadership of the business in a short ownership transition.  The new team successfully managed through the pandemic and have shortened the buy out period by four years.
