What is, and is not, AI: an historical perspective
Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science that attempts to understand and simulate human intelligence. Areas of study include knowledge representation, reasoning, machine learning, vision and problem solving. This informal presentation and open discussion will touch on each of these areas and how they have come together to form current AI systems.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Glasgow researched and developed AI systems for over 40 years. Her specialties included spatial reasoning, case-based reasoning, machine learning and biomedical applications. During her career, she was president of the Canadian AI association (CSCSI), author of over 200 research papers, industry consultant (IBM, Bell Canada, Canadian Space Agency, Atomic Energy Canada,...), editorial board member (Bioinformatics, AI Magazine, Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research, ...), visiting scientist (Cambridge University, University of Bologna), and co-author and editor of the book "Diagrammatic Reasoning".
