We’re First Light Technologies (FLT). We design and manufacture outdoor lighting for public places like walkways, parks, and parking lots — over 55,000 of our lights are installed on almost every continent. Since our start in 2019 we’ve grown our team from 13 people to 43, and our customers love our easy-to-use products. Our lights work right out of the box, producing reliable, quality light all night, every night. They don’t require connection to the electrical grid, saving our customers time, money, and energy.

The role

Reporting to the CEO, the Brand Marketing Manager is responsible for shaping and executing our brand strategy, product marketing, and external communications to drive awareness, industry leadership, and demand generation. They ensure a compelling and consistent brand presence while leading product positioning, thought leadership, and corporate communications efforts.

In this role you’ll have the ability to shape the future of our marketing team, working closely with other FLT managers and leaders. You’ll identify healthy and sustainable ways to grow the marketing team, and to find collaboration with other departments at FLT.

This is a full-time, permanent role that will be hybrid from our Victoria office. Our team works 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday, with flexible hours within that scope.

Salary range: $115,000 - $125,000.

What you’ll do…

Brand Strategy & Leadership 

- Define and execute FLT’s brand strategy to build awareness, credibility, and differentiation.

- Own FLT’s brand messaging, voice, and visual identity, ensuring consistency across all channels.

- Develop integrated marketing campaigns that support sales growth and position FLT as an industry leader.

- Work cross-functionally with leadership to align brand marketing efforts with business goals.

- Provide direction on how to build out the marketing function at FLT, leveraging contractors, tools, and partners.

Thought Leadership & Communications

- Develop and execute a thought leadership strategy that positions FLT as an innovator in solar lighting and sustainability.

- Lead corporate communications, including PR initiatives, media relations, and executive communications.

- Identify and secure industry speaking opportunities, contributed articles, and partnerships to enhance FLT’s credibility.

- Oversee press releases, industry reports, and brand storytelling efforts to showcase FLT’s impact and expertise.

Overseeing Product Marketing

- Ensure FLT’s product marketing strategy effectively communicates the value of our solar lighting solutions.

- Work with Innovation & Development, and Sales teams to develop clear, compelling positioning and messaging.

- Support go-to-market plans for new products, ensuring strong brand alignment.

- Develop high-impact sales enablement tools, brochures, and technical content.

- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to refine FLT’s market positioning. 

Brand Performance & Market Insights 

- Track and analyze brand and marketing performance metrics to inform future strategies.

- Stay ahead of industry trends and marketing innovations to continuously evolve FLT’s brand presence.

What you bring …
 

8+ years of experience in brand marketing, product marketing, and corporate communications.

Proven ability to develop and execute thought leadership initiatives and PR strategies.

Strong expertise in brand positioning, storytelling, and messaging development.

Experience leading integrated marketing campaigns that drive awareness and engagement.

Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Digital teams.

Excellent communication and public relations skills, with experience managing external media.

Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable marketing strategies.

Knowledge of digital marketing best practices, including content marketing and SEO.

Experience with marketing automation and CRM tools.
 

Nice to haves… 
 

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience in B2B, solar, or clean technology industries.
