Ready to make a difference in your community and support wildland fire fighters with world class software?  Selkirk is a boutique (SME) software firm that develops near real time software applications used by some of the busiest fire agencies in Canada to prepare for and respond to wildland fire.

Working in a cross-discipline team, your individual strength, sense of responsibility, and desire to work collaboratively in an agile, informal setting will support and enable wildland fire fighting efforts across Western Canada.  You appreciate the benefits of a flexible and less formal work environment.  You bring your passion to what you do and how you do it.

Working closely with our CTO, senior developers, and other team members, your position has two primary roles.  First, you will have responsibility for all operations aspects of our cloud and development environments, including both user-facing production and acceptance environments as well as lower development environments and related infrastructure.  Second, working with other senior technical staff, you will implement new and ongoing devops projects.  Overall, your focus will be secure, accessible, performant, and frictionless operations and development of agency-wide wildfire applications.

Remote working is fully supported and may be necessary for some or all employment.  Hybrid office / remote can be supported.  Skills, environment, and attitude must match. Our preference is for someone in the Greater Victoria Area so that in office tasks can be supported. For those working at a distance, overlap with the Pacific Time zone is necessary.  Due to the critical nature of the applications we provide and the emergency management customers we support, occasional after work hours scheduling is sometimes necessary.

 About You: 

The Basics:

3+ years (Intermediate) of relevant ops / devops experience with some good project wins under your belt, or 1+ years (Junior) experience getting the basics in several of the following:

• AWS: EKS, IAM, RDS, MQ, Elasticache, EC2, Route53
• Kubernetes
• Docker
• Terraform
• Karpenter
• Bitbucket (Pipelines)
• Keycloak
• Grafana

Nice to haves:

1. Gov cloud for Azure or AWS (Preferred) including LZA
2. MLOps experience
3. Cloud cost management and optimization
4. GitHub
5. Bamboo, Confluence, JIRA
6. AWS: Quicksight, Bedrock, Lambda, ECS

Compensation and Benefits

In addition to a competitive health and life benefits and vacation package, bi annual bonus pool, a salary range of  $57,500 to $87,500  is offered, commensurate with experience and proven success.
