SUMMARY

We’re seeking a full-time Full-Stack Web Developer to help round out our excellent team. You’ll build, maintain, and support a wide range of websites and custom web applications — from WordPress and Drupal projects to fully custom PHP solutions. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoy variety in your work, this role is for you.

The range of tasks will vary from project to project and will include developing responsive custom and theme based websites, troubleshooting and supporting existing client websites, mobile and web application development, and working with databases.  

Responsibilities for the role include taking ownership of tasks, providing accurate estimates on scope of work and seeing the tasks and projects through to delivery while ensuring communications within our team are clear.  We’re a smaller team with lots on the go, and team members generally fill multiple roles; versatility and flexibility are critical traits for all team members.

CORE ACTIVITIES

• Develop and maintain responsive websites using modern HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP standards
• Maintain and support existing PHP websites and web applications
• General website maintenance and troubleshooting
• Develop and maintain custom WordPress plug-ins
• Develop custom PHP applications and RESTful APIs
• Work with MySQL databases, including designing schemas and optimizing performance
• Provide accurate estimates for smaller tasks and larger projects
• Handle multiple projects with tight task deadlines
• Collaborate with project managers and designers to deliver projects on time
• Contribute to Caorda’s technical blog with articles on tools, trends, or best practices

SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Post-secondary education in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and expertise
• Excellent HTML/CSS skills 
• Knowledge of at least one modern JavaScript framework
• WordPress knowledge and experience, focusing on custom themes and plugins.
• Experience with PHP development
• Experience reading and debugging code written by others
• Understanding of databases (MySQL), with a comfort in using indexes, stored procedures, and views.
• Ability to write a data-driven web app front to back
• Drupal knowledge and experience, focusing on custom themes and modules.
• Experience with version control systems (Git)
• Familiarity with Adobe XD or similar design tools
• Good understanding of website UI, UX, accessibility and SEO best practices
• A commitment to writing clean code and an adherence to standards
• Strong requirements gathering skills 
• Excellent organizational skills with an ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Business awareness regarding project delivery
• Experience with MS Outlook and Office suite
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable working independently (with just a project manager) and collaboratively as part of a small design and development team
