StarFish Group, a product development consultancy focused on medical devices and laboratory test equipment, has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Administrative Assistant for our Product Development team in Victoria, BC. Many of the devices we consult on are complex electromechanical systems, requiring our engineers and designers to work closely together to develop these systems.

Base Salary range:

$57,290 CAD - $70,022 CAD for this position. Annual variable compensation tied to the completion of goals has a target that is 0-2.5% of the base salary. Employees are also eligible to earn profit sharing.  Candidates who do not meet the core criteria for the Senior Administrative Assistant position may be considered for an Administrative Assistant position with modified compensation.

Your day may include:

  • Amplify department culture and collaboration by supporting the Product Development Team and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Collaborate with department managers to collect and organize data, facilitating efficient reporting to the senior leadership team.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and develop strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Maintain calendar, including arranging meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements and provide reminders for the Director of Product Development.
  • Collect, organize, process, and analyze data on the time, costs, and resources involved in building life-saving medical devices at StarFish.
  • Assist with documentation and processes related to training, performance reviews, and other department records.
  • Organize department meetings, team lunches, and occasional social events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 (four) years of proven experience in administrative or support roles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in fast-paced, dynamic environments, preferably high-tech or product development environments.
  • Advanced MS Office suite skills, internet and administrative tools.
  • The ability to manage multiple calendars and resources in Outlook.
  • Graphing skills in Excel are considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education is beneficial.

StarFish Medical works with external compensation consultants annually to ensure our ranges reflect the market and our compensation philosophy. StarFish Medical utilizes a career framework that outlines the skills, abilities and behaviours that are required to move between levels of a job family. Placement within a range is based upon those skills, abilities and behaviours. When candidates are assessed for the posted position, we may find that their skills are more aligned with a different level and will discuss that as a separate opportunity. That position may have a different pay range.
