Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior HR Generalist to join our team! As the sole HR Leader, you will have the opportunity to build our Human Resources function and develop and create new systems as we prepare to grow our organization and team!  Reporting to our CEO, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and intermediate level HR professional looking to expand and develop as you take your career to an HR Manager role in the near future. The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a passion for cultivating and maintaining a positive and inclusive workplace culture. This position does work within the Hybrid model along with the other team members.


Responsibilities and functions include, but are not limited to:

- HR Strategy: Work with our CEO and Management team to implement HR strategies and initiatives that are aligned with the business strategy and company goals.

- HR Foundation: Along with the Management team, build a strong foundation in all HR areas to establish a structure as the company grows.

- Recruitment: Lead recruitment efforts to attract top-tier talent. Work with the Managers and Department heads on all Recruitment matters and hiring of employees and contractors. Manage and maintain the full recruitment cycle. Develop an effective and informative onboarding system. Work with recruitment agencies and/or recruitment consultants during high volume needs.

- Employee Relations: Foster a positive work environment by identifying employee concerns and promoting effective communication. Work as a business partner with Managers and Leaders to help with various people strategies. Act as a coach in any conflict resolution matters where appropriate and know when to escalate to a Senior Manager/CEO.

- Policy Development: Maintain Company employee handbook (policies) and update when needed. Answer any employee inquires and communicate all changes/updates.

- Compensation: Ensure compensation packages are competitive in the market as well as review/maintain internal equity. Participate in salary surveys as needed. Collaborate with the CEO on the annual salary review process. 

- Benefits: Responsible for the Employee Health Benefits Program. Ensure program matches employee needs and competitive in the market. Work with the Accounting department to ensure budgets are met. Answer all employee inquires.

- Performance Management: Build and improve/enhance the performance management system that includes employee & career development plans, probationary reviews, annual reviews, ongoing performance matters, regular employee feedback sessions, manager 1:1 employee sessions, etc. Along with the CEO, align our system with our company core values. 

- Records/Data Management: Maintain and update our employee database in Excel including all electronic and paper employee files. Ensure compliance with all applicable privacy and other employment laws. As we grow, work with the Accounting Manager to identify an HRIS System for efficiency in all areas of HR (including an ATS) and proper records management for both HR and Payroll. Assist in the preparation of HR reports and analytics.

- Training: Establish an in-house employee training system that includes needs assessment (for internal and external training), new employee onboarding/orientation, management development, technical training and any other training needed. Ensure training records (and applicable expiry dates) are recorded.

- Health & Safety:  Work with the Health & Safety Manager (Operations Manager) to ensure all safe work practices are implemented and followed. Participate as a member of the H&S committee.


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

- 5+ years working in a Human Resources Professional role. Previous experience working in a high-tech and/or manufacturing environment would be beneficial.

- Human Resources Diploma and/or Degree or equivalent is required. The candidate must hold their CPHR designation.

- Previous experience working in all areas of HR as a Generalist/Business Partner. Experience working in a high growth organization would be an asset. 

- Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.

- Demonstrated ability to guide and lead. Seen by everyone as an approachable person.

- A knowledgeable resource to the management team.

- Experience in HR administration and willingness to roll the sleeves up!

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

- Strong knowledge of Canadian and B.C. employment laws and regulations.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Previous experience working in a Google Workspace environment would be beneficial and working with a HR information system.


Compensation:

A base salary range of $70,000/year to $90,000/year has been identified for this role along with a target bonus of 10%.

The specific base salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
