Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and driven Technical Sales Representative to join our team. You’ll help drive the success of our sales department by ensuring customers receive accurate, relevant information that supports their decision-making. This role involves speaking with engineers and technical stakeholders, many of whom are deeply knowledgeable and detail-oriented. It is critical that information shared with customers is correct. Confident but inaccurate answers can damage trust. While you’re not expected to be a sales engineer, you will often be the first point of contact, so technical curiosity, careful listening, and a commitment to learning are essential. If you don’t know something, that’s okay, as long as you take initiative to ask questions, seek clarity, and follow up. This role suits someone who enjoys learning, values precision, and builds trust through honesty and follow-through.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow the company’s sales playbook and procedures, and provide feedback to improve and evolve the process based on real-world experience.
- Engage with existing and prospective customers via video call, phone, email, and in person.
- Conduct online and in-person product demonstrations.
- Guide customers in their product selection process.
- Maintain records and forecasting information in our CRM systems (HubSpot).
- Represent Iris Dynamics at international trade shows, video demo calls, and customer sites.
- Engage with diverse global customers, accommodating various time zones.
- Educate customers on product selections tailored to their needs.
- Collect customer requirements and feedback, and communicate it to the product management and marketing teams.
- Ensure accurate, honest communication with customers at all stages of the sales process, especially when discussing technical features or limitations.
- Respond to emails and follow up on CRM entries.
- Support the complete sales cycle from initial engagement through onboarding, with a focus on setting up long-term customer success and repeat business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Technical background related to industrial automation or robotics systems; an engineering degree is an asset but not required.
- Comfort engaging with technical products and concepts, with a willingness to learn where gaps exist.
- Familiarity with basic financial and accounting principles.
- Demonstrated experience in B2B sales or a similar customer-facing role.
- Must be able and prepared to travel internationally on occasion (e.g., EU, USA).
- Must live in the Greater Victoria area and be able to commute to the company office.
Preferred Experience:
- Proven track record in a sales operations environment, with a strong sense of urgency and drive to succeed.
- Experience selling a technical, B2B product is an asset.
- Experience working in a company with international clientele is a plus.
Skills:
- Exceptional organizational skills, with a detailed and process-oriented approach to work.
- Strong sales capabilities and ability to build rapport with customers.
- Exhibits excellent interpersonal communication and proactively networks to establish strong professional relationships.
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Proactive and detail-oriented, with the ability to take ownership of tasks and improve systems while working within established team processes.
Work Hours:
Typically 40 hours per week (8 hours per day), based out of our Victoria office. This is an in-office position. Some flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate international customers across time zones. Specifics will be discussed with potential candidates.
Salary Range:
$50,000 - $65,000
