Victoria BC – Barnacle Systems, the Victoria-based boat security and monitoring electronics manufacturer, has been awarded the Grant Thornton Business Excellence award “Technology Company of the Year”. In a statement from the Business Excellence awards, “because there was no BE Awards event last year, nominations covered the last two years – 2020 and 2021”. Brandon Wright, CEO of Barnacle Systems, says “our exceptional crew of Engineers continues to develop all of our own hardware, software, and firmware in-house. The team has worked so hard and I’m thrilled that our efforts are being recognized.” Barnacle’s flagship product line, BRNKL, provides security and monitoring for recreational, industrial, and military boats in over 40 countries around the world. BRNKL allows boaters to remotely check in on their vessel from their smartphone, tablet, or computer and receive alerts if the boat drags anchor, begins to sink, or if an intruder comes on board. The most recent innovation from Barnacle Systems is their BRNKL Rapid Deploy, a remote monitoring system used by the Canadian Coast Guard to track derelict boats.
