Codename Entertainment Joins Entertainment Software Association of Canada

The Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC) is pleased to welcome Codename Entertainment to its membership. Located in beautiful Victoria B.C., Codename Entertainment was founded in 2008.

The award-winning studio is best known for its latest game, Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, an official free-to-play Dungeons & Dragons-based strategy game. Idle Champions has remained in the Top 25 free-to-play games on Steam, Top 100 Most Played Steam games by concurrent players, and racked up more than 4.3 million cumulative plays since it launched in September 2017.

Codename Entertainment’s first game, Egg Breaker, was the beginning of a succession of games that have built up an extremely dedicated fan following. Egg Breaker 2, Egg Breaker Adventures, Bush Whacker, Bush Whacker 2, and Crusaders of the Lost Idols have all managed to firmly establish themselves in the hearts of the company’s fans over the years.

“Eric is well-known among Canada’s video game industry for his dedication and passion for video games and the industry as a whole. He is a recognized leader in the province of BC and is on the board of DigiBC and IGDA Victoria and chair’s VIATEC Video Game Industry Roundtable,” said Jayson Hilchie, President & CEO of ESAC. “We have been fortunate enough to watch Codename Entertainment grow with great success over the past 10 years and we know that Eric and his team will bring tremendous value to ESAC’s membership.”

“Codename is thrilled to be joining ESAC and its membership. It’s a great opportunity to work in partnership and highlight the talent we have on the west coast,” said Eric Jordan. Victoria is home to micro, small and medium sized video game companies and offers an alternative location to the established hotspots for video game development in British Columbia. “We look forward to seeing the games industry in Victoria continue to flourish and serve as a key contributor to talent, innovation and tech in Canada,” added Eric.
