Guardians of the Deep: Open Ocean Robotics and WildAid's Mission Against IUU Fishing
Harnessing Cutting-Edge AI to Safeguard Our Seas
Open Ocean Robotics recently completed an impactful mission to combat Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing with international environmental organization WildAid.
Over three weeks, a fleet of three DataXplorer™ USVs monitored a key maritime area, covering an impressive 1,476 km. During this mission, our USVs utilized Enhanced Horizon™, our AI-powered object detection system for visual and thermal cameras, allowing us to detect, classify, and track non-AIS vessels. The vehicles were also equipped with the Underwater Listener™, our AI-based passive acoustic detection system, allowing it to detect out-of-sight vessels and listen for sounds associated with IUU fishing activities.
Our innovative technology and dedicated efforts are making significant strides in the fight against IUU fishing, ensuring the protection and sustainability of our oceans.
