ICTC Launches A Targeted Wage Subsidy Program To Support Businesses In Hiring Newcomers
Ottawa, January 11, 2023
The Information and Technology Council (ICTC), Canada’s not-for-profit centre of expertise for the digital economy, announced today the launch of its newest capacity building program titled Pathways to Employment for Newcomers. The program will support business needs by creating pathways to employment for around 250 newcomers in Canada’s digital based economy. This program, funded by the Government of Canada’s Foreign Credential Recognition Program, is open to businesses and newcomers located in Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and Ontario.
Employers who participate in this program will receive a 70% wage subsidy, up to a maximum of $15,000 to facilitate the hire of newcomers
The program’s six-month work placement also includes weekly business skills development, personalized career coaching, and SCRUM training (an Agile project management framework that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and iterative progress toward a well-defined goal).
“Canada’s industries continue to compete for digital talent in an increasingly tight labour market. Skilled newcomers provide a strong talent supply that can support digital transformation and accelerate business growth in this rapidly evolving marketplace.” —Namir Anani, ICTC President & CEO
The Pathways to Employment program is accepting applications from both employers and candidates.
