VIATEC Seeks Input from Victoria’s Tech Industry
Tech is Greater Victoria’s largest private sector industry. Last year, it generated over $4 billion in revenue. Dan Gunn, CEO of non-profit Victoria Innovation, Advanced Technology and Entrepreneurship Council (VIATEC), predicts even better industry performance in the coming years. “I think we’ll be as much as twice the size as we are by 2030, putting us over $10 billion in annual revenue,” he told Douglas late last year.
Some of that success has to do with the work VIATEC does to promote Victoria’s tech businesses and industry. One of the ways it does that is with its economic impact studies that showcase industry performance to media, policymakers, government programs and academic institutions, in the hopes of attracting new talent and potential investors.
VIATEC says it has a 2023 study in the works, but the non-profit needs help. It relies on inputs from Victoria-based tech companies to provide up-to-date, accurate information about the state of the industry here. If you own a tech business, consider taking part in the survey. You’ll have to provide a 2023 employee count, estimated 2022 and 2023 revenues from your Greater Victoria operations, payroll expenses and municipal taxes.
Find the survey here, and read VIATEC’s 2018 Economic Impact Study here.
