This talk traces the evolution from text-in-text-out workflows to agentic systems that plan, act, and iterate across real tools and files.
Mike will share lessons from building his own research agent—one that orchestrates multiple tools and preserves source provenance. He'll also explore Anthropic's newly-launched Cowork feature, which treats AI less like chat and more like delegating to a capable colleague.

About the Presenter:
Mike Anderson is a Victoria-based technologist with over a decade of experience building and scaling tech companies on Vancouver Island.
He co-founded Echosec Systems, where he served as CTO and COO through a successful acquisition by Flashpoint, and later co-founded Intlabs, a data governance startup focused on AI-powered compliance and classification.
Most recently, Mike has been exploring how AI agents are transforming software development practices—from code generation to research automation
