Description

Battle of the Pitch Decks is back, and this time the competition is not only crossing regional borders, but provincial ones too! Join us virtually in Vancouver, Whitehorse, Victoria and the Okanagan as three startups pitch-off in their cities for local prizes, followed by each city winner battling it out in the finale for ultimate bragging rights!

Battle Schedule:

  • March 11: Vancouver
    (Startups: Lucent BioSciencesSpinndleStable)
  • March 31: Whitehorse
    (Startups: SUPStick, Neighbourly North, Discovelo)
  • April 21: Victoria
  • May 5: Okanagan
  • June 2: Finale (1 startup winner from each city)

Each Startup will have 7 minutes to share their pitch deck with the virtual audience and panel of judges. The winner will be decided by the end of the event following panel feedback.

If you’re an entrepreneur, an investor or just a big fan of the competitors - make sure you register and tune in to learn more about each company, and hear from the judges on how they all did - this is an educational event like no other!

MARCH 11 Startups:

Spinndle

Spinndle is a K12 project platform where students become a “just in time” community to bounce ideas off of, get feedback and better manage on their own. Spinndle streamlines planning, documentation, and assessment so teachers have one place to look.

Lucent BioSciences

Lucent Biosciences is on a mission to address climate impact on global food security and nutrition with a carbon-neutral smart fertilizer Soileos that regenerates the soil and delivers higher crop yields without runoff pollution.

Soileos is made by upcycling by-products from the food processing industry, creating a full circular economy from crop to fertilizer. Extensive field trials in 2019 and 2020 have shown significant increases in yield and nutrient density in crops grown with Soileos compared with competitive products.

Stable.work

Sales positions are difficult to fill and expensive to manage. The process for sourcing quality talent, verifying skills, training new hires, and managing a successful sales process is notoriously time-consuming and complicated. Stable.work is the only marketplace for SMB’s to find, manage, and pay freelance sales pros, on-demand.

Judges:

Erin Alexander (WEL Vancouver), Steve Konishita (Start Yukon), Carollynn Schafer (Accelerate Okanagan), Pieter Dorsman (Angel Forum), Robert Bennett (VIATEC), Stephanie Andrews (Capital Investment Network).
